LOCAL AREA INFORMATION

The Roundhouse is in an area called Las Coloradas which is about a 10 minute drive to Playa Blanca town and approx a 10 minute walk to the renowned Papagayo beaches in the National Park.

Las Coloradas is a quiet residential area with the benefit of a small shopping centre called El Pueblo withing 5 min walk which has a great supermarket with fresh meat, fruit and vegetables plus everything else you could need. It also has some great cafes, bars, gift shops and children's playground. You can also hire Segway’s, bikes, cars, paddle boards, to name but a few!

There are some great restaurants in the area, our favourites are the superb 'Gin' bar called El Lagar de Baco serving amazing tapas, huge range of gin and some great wines, the Sports bar showing all live sport whilst providing great cold beers and snacks and Casa Carlos a Spanish restaurant with it's varied menu of steak, fish and pizzas. 

There is a taxi rank at the shopping centre where it will cost approx €5 into Playa Blanca town and a great bus service near the restaurant Casa Carlos approx €1.30 per person running twice an hour. https://arrecifebus.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1288&lang=en

The first beach of the Papagayo National Park is about a 10 min walk over the headland from the villa, you can continue walking over the headland to see or stop and swim at the beaches along the way with a final stop at the restaurant and bar at the end of these award winning natural beaches, some suitable for naturist sunbathing. You can also reach these by car paying €3 to enter the National Park.

The fun beach of Dorada "The Golden Beach" is 10 mins by car or bus and is generally very calm. Here you can hire pedalos, sunbeds and umbrellas or enjoy water based activities like banana boats and parascending. There are lifeguards on this beach. Plus there is a great rock pooling beach just behind El Pueblo.

Follow the well-lit coastal path for 15/20 min walk and you will come across Marina Rubicon with a superb range of restaurants, activities and shopping centre. You can also book Scuba diving here to dive the famous Museo Atlantico plus may other great dive sites. There is also a local market here on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
